Laverne is a trans woman who first rose to fame after starring on the TV show Orange is the new black. She grew up in Alabama and was constantly bullied for being too feminine. She loved dancing when she was little, especially ballet. But her mom only agreed to sign her in for jazz for that she thinks ballet is too girly. Laverne has always known she was a girl trapped in a boys’ body and pushed those feeling away because she thought that it was sinful. She once even took pills for that she was so ashamed of herself. Lucky for her that she is living the life she’s been dreaming of. Now Laverne is using her fame to fight for trans rights and has made huge improvement on that.

Chaz Bono
When Sonny and Cher welcomed their little girl Chastity into the world, they never imagined that she would transition to a “he”. But that did happen in 2000. Chastity began to present herself as Chaz. In her 40s, Chaz finally performed an operation to have her breasts removed. From then on, she officially turned into “he”. He even began to receive testosterone shots to make him have facial hair and deep voice. He is the first trans man to play a mail rule in a feature film. He also plays a part in The secret life of American team and America horror story. Her mother Cher admitted that she once had difficulty in Chazs’ transition and even now she still  has trouble using the correct pronouns when talking about him. But now, Cher couldn’t be prouder of the achievement Chaz made.

Carmen Carrera
Carmen Carrera is a celebrity trans woman who became famous after appearing on season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She actually used to do drag for years before she finally transitioned after being kicked off by the show. The hardest of being a transgender is that the public’s acceptance. But Carmen hopes that her story can help normalize transitioning. These days, Carmen works as a model and walks down pat walks around the world. But have you hear about the drama that she stirred up with Ru? Carmen found herself in hot water after she called out the drag race for pulling a game named female or shemale. She said that shemale is an extremely offensive term and the show should be more respectful of what trans people have to go through. Carmen actually faced a lot of backlash for speaking out.
